About us

A woman and a man smiling at each other while holding two blocks of cheese.

The Real Cheese Project was founded by James Grant – aka The Bucks Cheese Guy – a leading advocate for real British and Irish cheese.

James and Nicola Grant run No2 Pound Street in Buckinghamshire – a celebrated cheesemonger and wine shop dedicated to sourcing and championing ethical, sustainable and artisan cheese, often made with raw milk and deep respect for the land. James is an Academy of Cheese training partner, columnist, and regular judge at the World Cheese Awards and British Cheese Awards.

Alongside his work with The Real Cheese Project, James co-founded Stiff Milk with comedian Marcus Brigstocke, a creative platform bringing humour, storytelling and live tastings together to celebrate the people and passion behind great cheese.

The Real Cheese Project works collaboratively across the curd community, with cheesemakers, mongers, farmers,
graders, educators, writers and organisations to protect, promote and celebrate real British cheese from the soil up.
